25/30 BED.

B.3.

Following No.2. big end bearing seizure this has been replaced by a new RR.56. bearing.

An extra and opposite hole in each crankpin has been drilled.

2 hours full throttle endurance and 2 hours 1/4 load to be run (check oil consumption). With oil press. set to 30-35 lbs/sq.in. at high speeds with an inlet temp of 100°C at what speed does the feed to the gears and the rockers commence with hot oil.?

The timing gears to be quietened on the bed we do not want them to spend a long time in making 100% job. Reasonable quietness will be O.K. Unit to be tested with a view to final before fitting in the car. List of complaints to be made for attention by the Shop.

B.9.

Following B.3., B.9. to be re-fitted and continue oil consumption tests until a flat figure has been obtained. This with the existing production block and pistons.

Unless another urgent job comes along the following can be carried out on this unit.

Rig up std. 25/30 radiator on unit and between radiator outlet and pump inlet insert a Phantom III. oil cooler close to the pump. Run with and without cooler to see effect (if any) of restriction created by cooler upon the water flow at varying temperatures approaching boiling on the outlet.

The flow can be measured by venturi and U. tube.
