Messrs.Rolls-Royce,Ltd., Date 17. 5. 28. Page 3 the opinion that the change to the Sprengel unit has given more vigorous air pumping which has resulted in a fully corrected unit under all conditions of service. We enclose for your information a specification which we have got out for the gauge as applied to Rolls-Royce cars. You will notice that the dash-board instrument has been modified in its assembly and fixing. With the previous design we experienced some trouble with breakage of the front glass in the instrument during transit. We attribute this largely to the positive form of assembly which we had adopted. We are now arranging to spring load the whole of the assembly, body, dial etc., against a washer abutting the inner rim of the bezel. This is in accordance with the practice which we have now been using for some time on several of our other styles of instruments, in which glass breakage has been entirely absent. Assuring you at all times of our best attention, We remain, dear Sirs, Yours faithfully, H.M.HOBSON,Ltd., J.P.Searight Joint Managing Director. | ||
