Complaint about driver vision from the 'B' seating position and proposing potential solutions.

Replying to your Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}9/LG31.12.24., the part that puzzles us is why you complain of 'B' position and not of 'D' though the vision of the latter is not as good as the former. The exact 'B' seating position of 'V' series has been extant for about four months. We presume that this is the first time such a car has been fitted up. The line of vision was fully investigated and approved at that time and from our drawings with people of normal height there does not appear to be any serious interference with the view in the case of 'B'. It would unquestionably delay urgent work we are doing on 'V' and 'W' series, and Goshawk, if we came to Derby precisely at the present minute, and we think the best plan would be for you to send the car down here in charge of a driver early next week. Here we can measure it and verify the position of the seat which we expect is one of the doubtful points. This would avoid our losing a couple of days in travelling to Derby and back, and this time could be more conveniently lost by a driver. When you have a 'V' series completely ready as a model we would come up to Derby. In the event of it being found when everything is exactly to drawings and instructions that the position of the wheel is still uncomfortable, it is possible that Sales may agree to reduce the distance between the bottom of the wheel and the compressed cushion to 9" instead of 10". In the case of 'D' and 'C' it is 9" now. We might then in addition to this revert in the case of 'B' steering to the old diameter of wheel. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
