TYRES ON THE 'CORNICHE'.

You will note from the Daily Report dated 27/7/39 that a certain amount of tyre trouble is being experienced on the 'Corniche'. We do not think it is necessary to get unduly alarmed about the tyre situation on this car as it is receiving very abnormal treatment, and the information obtained will be handed on to the tyre manufacturers who will be able to modify their product to suit the exceptional requirements of this particular type of car.

When comparing different types of tyre it is necessary to get an average, as there are variations between different tyres of similar design as there are between different cars. We feel that ultimately we shall find that customers do not drive the 'Corniche' car at maximum speeds. We say this, because when making some tests on Brooklands recently the tread came off one of the standard Bentley India tyres after three miles running at 100 m.p.h., and yet, in customers hands, we do not get this type of failure.
