WATFORD CONTACT BREAKER LEVER ON BENSPORT BATTERY IGNITION. We have had a failure of the ignition on one of our Experimental Bentley chassis 4.B.IV. due to the Bakelite pivot bush on the contact breaker lever seizing on the steel pin due to the latter rusting. These Bakelite bushes usually require a little more clearance than the Bronze bush judging by our experience with magnetos, and run quite successfully with practically no lubrication providing there is of course no rusting. We suggest that we try the experiment of these pivots chromium plated or made of stain-less steel screwed into place instead of rivetting, as we understand it is difficult to make a job of the rivetting when using a stainless steel pin.
