For the attention of Mr. Fowler-Clark.

Dear Sirs,

In reply to your letter of the 10th. inst. about the 3-RRN11 test battery having the modified negatives, which we submitted to you last November, we are extremely surprised to learn that you find from your tests that the maximum P.D. on charge is not lower than the standard. You do not mention what the actual P.D.was and we are wondering whether you have been comparing it with a standard battery which has seen considerable service either in your laboratory or elsewhere. We mention this because it would be possible for a standard battery in certain conditions of duty to have a maximum P.D. lower than that of a new battery having the modified negatives.

With regard to the frothing, we can only suggest that it has been caused by some accidental contamination of the electrolyte. It is, of course, obvious that the modified negative grid is not in any way responsible.

With reference to your final paragraph, the National Accumulator Co. at Great Portland Street is the selling organisation for our Portable batteries, and all matters connected with the sales side should be addressed to them. All technical matters however, such as the particular item in question, should be addressed to us here as in the past.

Yours faithfully,

PETO & RADFORD.
