November 14th. 1933. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ld. Nightingale Road. D E R B Y. WST Dear Sirs, With reference to the writer's visit to your works yesterday, and his interview with your Mr. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} West, we were pleased to hear that the "Stalloy" Armature Laminations we supplied you with gave very good electrical results, but that they were not quite accurate enough to suit you. The writer pointed out that this could be overcome by making combination tools. With regard to using "Stalloy" to run 5,000 revolutions per minute, we are rather afraid that it is asking too much for a material of such a brittle nature, as there is a likelihood of the teeth breaking off; also your method of hammering the cores in is liable to crack the teeth, and we suggested you used our No. 41. quality, which in .014" thickness would give even better results than in "Stalloy" .028", and would certainly be very much safer to use, from a mechanical point of view. ALL STEEL SUPPLIED BY US IS OF BRITISH MANUFACTURE THROUGHOUT. | ||
