Pistons for Production Chassis. With reference to arrangements made this morning, it is understood that before definitely informing us of the clearance which is to be given to the pistons, you wish to run two or three sets of cylinders and pistons from chassis on test, on your test engine. We are arranging therefore, at your request, to let you have three sets of cylinders and pistons for this purpose, and understand that when these are considered by you to be satisfactory as regards clearance, they will be returned to us for fitting to the Paris Show chassis. We understand it has been agreed that chassis shall be allowed to be despatched which do not give piston knocks when the water temperature is over 50°C. We shall be glad to have this confirmed, and also to be supplied with details of the standard piston clearances. We take it that you will verify the piston clearances before running the engines, of the pistons and cylinders we are sending to you. EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}/T. | ||
