CONNECTING RODS. X.8030

We have received from France a set of connecting rods taken off 93-NK car. The con. rod bearings were found in a very poor condition when the rods were being dismantled in order to fit new piston rings.

We are sending the rods to WW.

This is the third occasion on which the connecting rod bearings have failed in 21,000 miles.

The last set of rods have run just over 8,000 miles.

It is reported that during this last run the oil has never dropped below 18 lbs. pressure.

We know that it is difficult to get whitemetal to adhere properly to alloy steel rods. The 20 HP. is by no means free from this trouble.

We are preparing a set of rods on which the white-metalling has been carried out very carefully.
