-2- an aero engine where there is not the same range of speed. I appreciate the dash pot action and think it is excellent. I consider we might fit it to the present system. It will be noticed that on the curve I make 2000 revs the maximum speed, really it should be about 2250 revs., also I do not allow for any lag in the cutting off the extra oil. Taking these into consideration we should have the extra oil working practically the whole time at low speeds. There is also what I consider another serious fault, that is, the danger of leakage past the valve and upsetting the slow running. I should be very interested to hear why Mr Royce fitted this scheme to the engine side of the throttle. | ||
