To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} Ind Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}5/KW.4.3.35. Water Excluders - Cover for Toggle Shaft oil Drain Hole. ------------------------- You have recently built up water excluding covers as above on the Bentley Bump Chassis. We should like another pair fitted to 1-B-IV while in the shop, but with the cover front extended and flanged over to close up the front. This is apparently not on the G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} drawing due to a mistake in copying the LeC. drawing. The main excluder on this car was the first one to be made, and was built to a clearance of about .030". All subsequent excluders have been built up to .050" clearance, because we found that the excluder on 1-B-IV rubbed whenever the brakes were applied. While this rubbing does not prevent us using the car, we should like the excluders to be built to .050 clearance at your convenience. When you do make this change, will you please fit the shallow type tongue, as we have found on 2-B-IV that the deep type can rub on the bottom of its groove during really fast cornering.
