To BY. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Da. {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to CJ. c. to Wor. {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X.4261. Da {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} 8/M25.5.22. GOSHAWK - REAR SHACKLE OF REAR SPRING. X.4261. We send herewith N.sch.1289 shewing a stop for preventing the axle pushing back in the event of the rear spring breaking. You will see that it consists of teeth formed solid with the shackle forging, and with the stationary pin in the rear cross member. It is proposed to allow the shackle to go back 8° and an angle of 70° forward will allow the spring to practically come into line with the shackle. Except for this stop it is not intended to alter the shackle from the arrangement sent you on N.sch.1282. Da. {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
