This car has been returned to us with the following complaints :- Lack of speed. Groaning heard at the rear seat. We have not yet completed our work on the first item. Groans. We have endeavoured to locate this by changing each Unit separately : Rear Axle gave no improvement. Gearbox " " Engine " " Replacing standard Engine Coupling with a damped spring drive coupling cured the groans. This type of Coupling was designed about 1912 and is in use on cars of about that period, and definitely overcomes rattles in the Transmission on cars which have a Torque Tube type of Axle and Footbrake Drum behind the Gearbox. I understand the Experimental Dept. are experimenting with a flexible Engine Coupling. May we have your sanction to turn this car out with the spring drive Coupling please? It could doubtless be changed for the later one when the experiments are completed. As the delivery of the car is urgent, would you kindly wire us your decision? Hm.{Capt. W.
