1020 Sby [crossed out] c. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} BY.11/G.14.5.38. Poiles [handwritten] SWDZ [handwritten, crossed out] ? BENTLEY - BEARINGS. Referring to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}2/E.12.5.38. in connection with bearing failures on B.26.LS. Moorhouse and B.182.KT. Jack Barclay. In regard to B.26.LS. this is one of the 70 chassis with A.C.2 bearings, which there is a certain doubt about, but I will issue a further report when the bearings have been examined. Relating to B.182.KT. although this chassis was built before the time, we knew it was necessary for a certain amount of 'nip', judging from the mileage quoted, I can only assume the bearings were not correctly fitted in the first place, i.e. in regard to nip.
