BENTLEY FRONT WING STAYS.

We have had three occasions recently where the 1/4" bolt holding the front wing stay to the frame has broken off when tightening up the nuts.

This has occurred without any undue leverage being used, the sample one herewith being practically new bolt that sheared off whilst being tightened up with an ordinary flat spanner.

The trouble has onlybeen in evidence since the fitting of the cross member between the headlamps and the strain on the bolts caused through frame distortion etc., is too great for them to handle.

This is borne out by the fact that after tightening up all wing stay bolts a long run on the road will stretch the bolts a quarter of a thread necessitating the retightening of all nuts.

This calls for design attention.
