xpl: Dept: X4152 HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AJL1/LG. 24th. Aug. 1927. Messrs. Barkers, Coachbuilders, Olaf Street, Latimer Rd. Notting Hill, London W.11. Dear Sirs, RR. 10-EX. With reference to your CWW/W. of the 19th.inst. The standard size for celluloid rear number plates 20 3/4 X 5 3/4" is too wide for our requirements. The number plate is enclosed in a beading whose inside dimensions are 3 11/16" wide X 20" long, the number must therefore be painted within this area. Outside dimensions of the beading are 4 3/4" wide X 21" long : it will be necessary to reduce the width of the standard sized plate to this dimension. The standard length (20 3/4") will be just sufficient to allow the plate to be held in position by the beading, if it is not possible to make a plate to the size we require. We would like to state that the previous plate was supplied by you for this car to the dimensions given; evidently it was made specially, not being the std. size. We should be much obliged if you would give this order your earliest attention as the number plate is urgently required. Yours faithfully, | ||
