One of the above magnetos was received at these Works on 16.11.20, having been left by Mr. Turner of the Salford Electrical Company during his visit for the purpose of putting this machine before us. A short preliminary report was sent under cover of our EFC1/T27.1.21; a description of this magneto appeared in the "Motor" of May 12th 1920, reprint of which we belive was sent to Mr. Royce earlier on, although we cannot confirm this. This magneto has now been put through our experimental bench tests with the following results :- Magneto No.8263. 1. Weight 16.1 lbs. 2. For remarks re mechanical and electrical design see preliminary report. 3. Radial air gap .006". 4. H.T. safety gap 8.7 mm. 5. Distributor dimensions are according to sketch herewith. These are more liberal than on the R.{Sir Henry Royce} and U.S.A. Bosch machines. Overlap at advance = 16° " " retard = 60° | ||
