WRAITH III. CHASSIS FLOORBOARDS.

In reply to E/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/M.3.6.37 re chassis floorboards for Wraith III., we have already tried a set of cork core plywood boards, and they have not given us such good results as the metal boards.

Whilst agreeing that we have in the past criticised our metal floorboards on account of their booming propensities and have asked for something different, similar ones for instance to those we have fitted to 1.B.1V., in which we use part metal and part wood, on the Wraith car you have given us a somewhat similar scheme of floorboards to 1.B.1V. in all metal, and they work very well. We think this is mainly due to using 4 boards instead of 2 large ones.

We therefore would suggest trying only 2 sets of BALSA core plywood for comparative purposes.

We would again point out, however, the extreme difficulty of fitting these metal boards on account of the screws not corresponding with the screw holes, and suggest a better scheme be prepared. We have never yet had a set of metal floorboards in any Experimental cars in which we could fit all the floorboard screws, and our present 2 Wraith cars are no exception.
