-2- Contd.

The dynamos are to be single field winding third brush controlled with a span on the field coil over the commutator of about 130 electrical degrees, thus the field coil can be excited by about 9 volts.

The armature teeth should be spiral and owing to the even number, there will be the same number of teeth under each coil. This, Mr. Royce considered, would counteract the tendency to sing. The shaft would be castellated in the usual way.

R.{Sir Henry Royce} would like calculations of such machines to be sent to him.
