S/W. re- Radio on R-R Cars. Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}18/KW11.9.34.
Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.

Many thanks for your Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.3/MA10.9.34. I am interested to note the progress you are making in connection with condensers and suppressors. It is also pleasing to know that you do not anticipate much difficulty in this matter in respect of new chassis.

By the way I have never seen the blue prints which I understand you were going to send to us and which we could pass on to Coachbuilders giving them instructions how to set about fitting wireless sets. Could you please tell me when I am likely to get these - a dozen were asked for.

Re the wireless set on the Show car for Olympia, it is anticipated that the apparatus will be ready for inspection in about 10 days' time. This is just to give you a rough idea of when you can expect to see this. We will of course advise you more definitely later.

Referring to wireless generally on R-R cars, do you feel that you are yet in a position to tell us which set you consider will give the best results on R-R's, and what is the best method for the customer to set about having it fitted? To whom would you recommend him to go, bearing in mind that some of the wireless manufacturers do not undertake the fitting but leave it to the Wireless Service Stations that are now to be found in various parts of the Country.

Also do you think when telling a customer that we see no reason why he should not have a wireless set fitted we ought to mention that the fitting of this wireless set does interfere with the dead slow running of the engine either idling, or pulling at about 4 m.p.h. on top gear, or do you consider that the effect in this way is not sufficient to justify it being mentioned ? Is this slow running affected only when the wireless set is working or also when it is not working ?

Can you yet please tell me what is the consumption of current with the average set ? I notice that the amount of current consumed is not recorded on the ammeter, at least it is not in my car and therefore I have no idea what the consumption is. Philco told me it is 3 1/2 - 4 amps. No doubt you have tested this to see exactly what it is. Would you please say, and also whether you advise that wireless sets should be so wired as to give a reading on the ammeter when the set is on.
