There is another important point and that is the safe life of whitemetal main bearings, we are unable to say whether if they were found to be in a good condition at the first R.20 (32.000 to 35.000 kms) and were tigghtened up whether they would with safety, last until the 2nd R.20 ,
( 64.000 to 70.000 kms. )

From the experience which we have so far gained we should say that the original W/M bearings need changing somewhere in the region between the 2 R.20's, viz- at about 40.000 to 45.000 kms. On some cars we have changed the bearings between 30.000 to 35.000 kms.
