Dear Sirs,

Re Mounting of Continental Touring Saloon
for 32 EX.

We are now able to tell you of our experiences during the mounting of this body in Derby so that we may profit by them in connection with future work.

1. The body brackets on the wheel arch had the correct centre distance measured transversely but their bedding faces were not horizontal, and necessitated the use of paper packings.

2. The rear body bracket on the chassis did not come opposite the steel insert in the body. When drilling and tapping for the set screws the drill fouled the base of the duralumin strut.

3. The body packings on the near side had to be 3/8" to 1/2" thicker than those on the off-side if the doors were to open and shut correctly and the dash board to match up properly with the body. This we interpret as meaning that the body must have been slightly out of square vertically.

4. The scuttle at the top opposite the end of the bonnet was 5/16ths. too low. Apparently the arched rail had been driven down by the panel beaters when driving over the panel. In future it would appear to be necessary to brace this transverse rail with a steel flitch plate.
