Chassis No. 2-PY (Stubbs).

I note from your memo. to Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} that you have now discovered Stubbs' requirements.

Jack Barclay gave me the impression that he was complaining of the car flopping about. Perhaps he was judging the car for his own requirements and not for Stubbs'.

I shall be interested to hear how this car progresses. If low rating springs satisfy the customer, it is a clear example showing we should make an even greater effort to find the customer's actual trouble before considering supplying an improvement.

At Derby we are having a general round up to supply governor units free from dirt. Every governor unit is now being tested with an Auto-Kleene Filter in the system.

We are looking into the question of fitting valves which are less sensitive to dirt and also putting a filter which will clean the oil whilst it circulates in the unit.

We have now got a scheme for venting the top of the governor unit, which at last appears to be satisfactory. This will prevent anyone wanting to remove the inspection cover, and thus save dirt from getting into the unit.
