X4183 TO BY. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM AJS. C. to - HS. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} WD. {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} AJS3/M28.5.25. MECHANIC MACHINE CO'S UNIVERSAL JOINTS. We send you herewith a copy of a letter we have sent to OY., in connection with a larger size of the Mechanic Machine Co's universal joints than the previous one ordered, and in this case Mr. Royce proposes trying a set on EAC. 7. for experiment only. You will notice that the external diameter of the joint is 6 3/8"., although we believe that this is a little too large for the space available on the final design of EAC. 7., in which 6" is about the maximum. There is we understand an experimental chassis in existence or being built up which has the large ball or roller bearing universal joints, which could be substituted by the larger size Mechanic's joint. In view of the above would you kindly place an official order for one set of the parts(as referred to in the letter to OY.)with the American Co. AJS. | ||
