To Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} from hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} PN.{Mr Northey} 47380 S E C R E T. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/LG28.3.29. 20 HP. CAR. 45770 As regards the 20 HP. car with increased performance which we promised to have ready for Sales to try at the end of this month - this car is now complete. A brief specification of this car is as follows :- Chassis No.14-G-4 fitted with Hooper enclosed body. This car is the original car which was sent out to France and run 10,000 miles. It was condemned at that time both for jellying on the front of the frame, and the engine being rough and noisy. Since then we have removed the cross in the frame entirely and fitted tubular members in the same manner as we have carried out on the S.S. As regards the engine we have reduced the compression ratio and carried out further work with this on the test bench. This car is now ready for Sales to try. It has a definitely better performance than the standard 20 HP. We think the most satisfactory arrangement would be for us to meet PN.{Mr Northey} somewhere between here and London, for him to bring the Sales demonstration 20 HP. which we hear is a very good example of the present standard 20 HP car, and we will then run the cars together and compare their relative performance. We realise there are still one or two features on this car which we should like to improve. contd :- | ||
