CONTINENTAL CHASSIS RADIATORS. The matrix to be used on all Continental cars for P.2 series is known as the Marston Mark III matrix. The width of the matrix is the same as the present radiator. With regard to the bottom tank, we are not yet quite sure whether the waterways given on LeC.3377 are sufficient, and we are testing this out as soon as possible. The alternative to LeC.3377 is to delete the stiffening ribs entirely; we have actually run 10,000 miles under this condition and are shortly commencing a bumper test. If the bumper test is satisfactory, there is no reason to retain the stiffening ribs at all, and our water flow trouble will also be solved. Modified starting handle tunnels will be required; this point we think is already being dealt with by 'E' Dept. We expect Marstons to supply the matrices complete with starting handle tunnel fitted, and they will be fitted into the shells here. Owing to the special nature of the matrix, we think it advisable for one of our radiator men to visit Marstons to pick up information necessary for the correct fitting up of the matrices; alternatively, we think Marstons would willingly send a man along to show our people how to deal with the first batch of radiators.
