COPY. X4552 Upton Hall, Nr. SOUTHWELL, Notts. Feb.2nd.,1925. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Derby. Dear Sirs, I have abolished the little split cotter from my Pressure Indicators, as it was a tiresome little thing to manipulate, and substituted a groove in the piston rod into which slips a horse shoe washer as used for retaining the spring on motor car engine valves. I should have done this before, but hesitated lest Messrs. Dunlop should object to a little extra over-inflation for the removal of a washer thick enough not to be accidentally bent. However, Messrs. Dunlop say the pressure cannot possibly injure their tyres and advocate this method if my Indicator is used for Pneumatic Tyres on Char-a-bancs, which require an air pressure of about 100 lbs. per sq. in. Do not trouble to reply to this letter. Yours truly, (Sgd) John F.{Mr Friese} Warwick. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Rg.{Mr Rowledge} | ||
