Valve Failure.

We have received your memo.Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}15/AP.22.4.37. the contents of which have been noted.

We will return the old head and fittings when the new one is received and fitted. We had already re-cut the damaged seat and ground in the others before we knew you were sending a new head.

We are sending you straight away, No II Exhaust valve which is cracked and about to fail, as we think this may be of immediate interest to you. The mileage of this valve is 8.169. We are sending with it the broken valve No 6 (No 3 Cylinder) which is one of the original valves and has covered 14.615 miles in France. Both are KE.965.

The ignition timing was checked 4º B T D C earlier in the running. We will check it again before running is resumed.

There have been no indications of the mixture being weak at high speeds, but we will also give this our attention.
