-2- HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn{Mr Robinson}/16/KW.24.7.34. We are rather enthusiastic about this development because the crankshaft can be obtained from existing forgings, also the connecting rods. These are the only parts of the engine which are altered apart from the bearing material and construction. The modifications should give us a smoother engine and increase the margin of safety between the danger mark on the revolution counter and the dangerous engine speed by 75%. If the question of the production of lead bronze bearings for car engines can be settled it may be worth while running this engine 10,000 miles in advance of 5-B-IV.
