We find that the rate of depression of the pedal has considerable effect on the stopping of the clutch plate. If, with the clutch brake entirely disconnected the pedal is depressed suddenly, the clutch plate stops almost immediately, but if depressed slowly the plate continues to drag. This is due, we think to the absence of any means of separating the driven member from the ferodo on the engine side. No matter how the brake is adjusted it cannot have any effect in the case where the pedal is depressed suddenly as the clutch already stops very quickly. | ||
