Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}/SB{Mr Bull/Mr Bannister}4/KH.21.6.32. RE: STIFFER ROAD SPRINGS - PHANTOM II Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rml/MA.16.6.32. The comparison between a 1250.lbs stiffer spring and a 1350.lbs standard spring was deliberately made because a standard car sprung to the specification of a Continental Tourer would almost certainly be equipped with 1350.lbs springs, whereas we have not yet had any stiffer springs stronger than 1250.lbs, except those which we ourselves have fitted to overcome complaints. We note the amended specification you give in regard to these springs, and also the temporary re-adjustment of poundages suggested to give the same result. We presume it is your intention that the former revision should take place without any increase in the poundage of the springs, the immunity from bumping being obtained by increased buffer clearances only. With regard to the last paragraph of your memo: the buffer clearances on the cars concerned were between 2.375" and 2.750" fully loaded. Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} /S81 [STAMP: RECEIVED] | ||
