X1166 Exptl. Dept: Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}19/KW. 4th October, 1935. Messrs. S. Smith & Sons Ltd., Cricklewood Works, London, N.W.2. For the attention of Mr. Nichols. Dear Sirs, Attached is a report on the "Jackall" Jacking System fitted to 21-G-IV. You will recollect that you have repeatedly asked me if we could not standardise the "Jackall" system on the 20/25 and the Bentley. I think you will agree that we have every reason to say that the system has been thoroughly unsatisfactory. In about a month's time we expect the same car to go out to France for a further test with the same jacking system with the defects rectified. We will let you know how it behaves but naturally are not thinking of standardising it on the results so far obtained. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
