It is proposed for this car to build a close-coupled Special Touring Saloon. The object in view is to produce a small sporting and attractive body rather on the lines of the Bentley Saloon, but with more room. To do this we need to move one or two of the chassis pieces on the same lines as we moved them on 27-EX. The ground clearance under the silencer at the moment is the same fore and aft. On the Phantom we consider that it might be one inch less in front, as the rear of the car approaches the ground more than the centre on maximum bump. At the same time, we wish to move back the third cross member, the battery and the battery cross member, utilising carrier levers for the brake ropes on the third cross member. This would bring the chassis in line with the Phantom and enable wells for the front feet to be carried under the front seats, which at the moment is impossible. At the same time, we would like to lower the front seat and the steering column one inch to fit the chassis with Continental type springs, such as we do on Phantom II. We are producing a design for a body on these lines to indicate the type of car we have in mind. EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
