DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}) (struck through) TO-BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer}) FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}) (Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence.) ORIGINAL C. to CJ. BJ. PHANTOM CONTROLS. X8240 STOPPING THE RATTLES. The scheme sent does not seem good enough: try some others, which must be simple. My passing thoughts are:- (1) Wrap round wool packing until push fit like piston of syringe. (2) A split collet pushed up by spring or screw underneath. (3) A cone bearing with the end control adjustable by nut or packing washer. (4) Perhaps a simple quick cone would do for both diameter and end play, and always be free from slack. For this fault to happen in a new car suggests limits are too great. Reduce and use assembly by selection until another scheme passed. R.{Sir Henry Royce} (Stamp) RECEIVED | ||
