RE CHASSIS PATENT NUMBER PLATE. We agree that it would be desirable to produce these number plates by a chemical process, in view of the cost of the dies, and the probable difficulty in getting the lettering accurately stamped. Also, future alterations to the dies might be found to be troublesome. But with reference to the sample submitted we think that it should be made like drawing "N" Scheme 666, of which we attach two blue prints. The differences which we notice would, we consider, very greatly affect the appearance of the plate - (1). The border between the lettering and the edge of the black part is too much. (2). The lettering is not pretty, and should be made more in the R.R. style, as shewn on "N" Scheme 666, if possible. (3). The edges of the plate should be bevelled, as we have indicated on the sample submitted. We think that if these points could be attended to, that the chemical process would be quite satisfactory.
