The bench testing of ignition coils with 44 S.W.G. finer gauge secondary winding, proposing further experimentation.

We have received for test 2 coils instructed by By {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} /RDL/W30.5.31 having finer gauge secondary winding, otherwise standard to D.72503. We have tested these coils on the bench for secondary voltage and general performance, and do not find them to be superior in any way to the present standard coil. Owing to the secondary winding being relatively closer to the core, we consider it worth while to wind on another 2000 turns on these two coils as an experiment to ascertain the possibility of obtaining a higher secondary voltage with our present design of coil.
