-11- CONT'D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Spring Suspension LOP.GM.1613. Front Axle. LOP.GW.1567. Gw.1488/9 Axle Yokes to Exs.82 and 82.A for ½º castor. The coiled bijur pipe feeding the offside yoke fractured. This was due to the pipe rubbing against the yoke. This emphasised the importance of checking on production that all coiled bijur pipes are free to work correctly. The reduced castor angle improved the steering and did not introduce any troubles. A cheese headed screw on the offside bellows box fouled the sidesteering tube under certain conditions. A countersunk screw was fitted, and the trouble has been dealt with for production. Rear Axle LOP.GW.1475. 9 x 41 ratio. The axle gave no trouble. A slight oil leak developed at the end of the mileage past one of the centre casing flange studs. The differential thrust washers were found to be badly corroded when stripped, but there was no evidence of this on the road. Vacuum hypoid oil was used experimentally. Wakefield's Hipress is used for production; corrosion of the washers does not occur with this oil. 8 x 34 gears are to be used for production, as the car proved to be under-geared. Brakes. Front brakes LOP.GW.1612. Gw.377/8 Brakes shoes - Panelled in place of tipping shoes. Gw.1855 Brake drums in Cast Iron. Rear Brakes LOP.GW.1878. GCD.160 Aux. shoes - Forged steel main shoes with tipping shoes set solid. Cast Iron Brake drums. Front and rear brakes lined with Thermoid D.35. L.H. Halo J.L. discs in servo and 40º cams.
