The performance and modifications of the Bijur lubrication system after 15,000 miles of testing.

Cox - Advertising Manager} and approximately 4000 miles on Tifft's car. We have just had the plain shackle pins out of CX{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} and find them exceptionally well lubricated. This does not prevent them rattling however as they develop side-play just the same as with ordinary lubrication. We have also inspected the steering pivots, steering ball joints, shock absorber ball joints and starter motor epicyclic gear. They are all well lubricated. Feeds to generator bearings and front shock absorber leathers had to be abandoned because of excessive lubrication. Feed to propeller shaft joint and ball bearing in torque tube was abandoned temporarily because of insufficient lubrication. Eventually we expect to manage a feed to this point and to the sphere, but this will need careful trial and meanwhile we have the feed from the bonnet. Feed to brake actuating shaft bearings on rear axle was abandoned although successful because:- (a) These bearings only require lubrication about twice a year. Bushes are of lead-copper alloy which give no trouble even when dry. (b) The long, wandering pipes endanger the whole system through flying stones. The feed to the water pump bearings has been entirely successful. With the exception of the propeller shaft joint, no part lubricated by the Bijur system has ever given indication of dryness. Plunger is pulled about every 50 miles. The line down the front spring gave some trouble at first through chafing. It has now done 11,000 miles in its present form and is in perfect condition. OY.
