X305 W/S. To Sgr. from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} E.1/HP.9.2.34. re 'SpectreCodename for Phantom III' Bonnet. Referring to the discussion re bonnet length on the occasion of your visit to the design department, the SpectreCodename for Phantom III as it comes naturally for length will lie between P.2. and the 20/25. as shown by the following table:- Chassis. Back of rad.to dash. Overlap. Total length of bonnet. P.II. 46 + 6 = 52. SpectreCodename for Phantom III. 40.5 + 7 = 47.5. 20/25. 36 + 6 = 42. EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} thinks we may be able to increase the overlap on the SpectreCodename for Phantom III to 7", but we cannot do much in this direction as we shall be losing the approximately 1" owing to the slightly more upright angle of the steering column forcing the windscreen forward by this amount.
