Lucas are now designing a modified form of Headlamp on the lines of the Marchal - drawings for which should be available in about a fortnight's time and hand made samples 2/3 weeks later, which we propose to send up to you in London for comment. (b) If such lamps meet with your approval, Messrs. Lucas are quite prepared to reserve same exclusively to this Company - in fact they are prepared to go even a step further and if we agree, associate our name with any Patent protection, or registered design it may be possible to obtain, so giving Messrs. Lucas a ready and complete answer to any of their customers who might approach them for the supply of such special lamps. (c) As and when such type of lamp is approved, they are quite prepared to accept cancellation of any P.100.R lamps we may have then outstanding, but they find it difficult, in view of their commitments in other quarters, to reserve P.100.R type lamps exclusively to this Company. In considering the exclusive reservation of lamps to this Company you will of course understand this probably will increase the cost, as it means the necessary Tools involved will be spread over a far smaller quantity than would be the case were the lamps offered to the Trade generally, but this extra I gather you are quite prepared to meet seeing it would be a selling feature.
