Attention: Mr.G.A.Vandervell.

Gentlemen:

Referring to your cablegram of November 17 in regard to our advice for fitting friction lining on Rolls-Royce Clutch Plates.

Enclosed herewith are blue prints #100150-1,#100150-2 #100150-3, #100149 and #100106-4. Quoting from a report from our Clutch Plate Department, blue prints #100150-1-2-3 are for one type of assembly in which the friction material is attached to pressure plate and flywheel, and the driven member has a ground saw steel surface. The advantage of low inertia is obvious.

The spring cushion as shown in detail of blue print #100150-3 is used in the pressure plate only. The type cushion shown in Rolls-Royce drawing # G-84808 might be used with success thus eliminating the machining necessary for coil springs, etc.

The facings are shown attached with flat head screws but any other suitable means can be used.

The steel dics of blue print # 100150-1 would replace Rolls-Royce print # G-84808.

The second type of installation, shown in blue print # 100149, would be used to replace Rolls-Royce G-84808 and its attached facings. The reduction in overall thickness or pressure plate position.

Cushioning with this type is accomplished by attaching springs, blue prints #100106-4, at holes outlined by pencil circular marked "1". These springs press out the four tongues marked "T".
