on piece by piece to find out any parts that set up a vibration, then when complete make the engine fire and run at full power for all the speeds. On the chassis is the place to do this, as the engine will have a period as fixed to the chassis and with the front of the chassis.

The exact running balance I believe was defective, most likely in the flywheel parts.

I am greatly in favour of continuing with the aluminium pistons, making them as free from cylinder and gudgeon pin knocks as possible. For urgency we ought to follow the 40/50 HP.

The ignition governor spring should be arranged to hold the governor shut up to 500 revs. on the engine, the hand adjustment being sufficient for adjusting the advance suitable for starting and running up to this speed, the ignition firing 10° on flywheel before dead point at 500, and 45° before dead point at 3000 R.P.M.

Mr. Day is sending you an improved section for the hand brake shoe, giving two to three times the strength of the present and also an arrangement for the brake cover to comply with your suggestion of non-detachability.

Mr. Stent has completed the undershield, which I think has become simple, handy and effective, and more favourable to silence than the one at present fitted.

Mr. Elliott is sending completion for silenced carburettor, simplified controls etc.

We are also sending you on Saturday a design of distributing box with auto switch for dynamos.
