COMPLAINT CASE

Re: CHASSIS N° 3-AZ-150 -Mr. Benjamin GUINNESS

We received a telephone call from the driver of the above car on Friday afternoon last to say that there was an abundance of oil in the water system, causing loss of oilfrom the engine, and would we therefore arrange to send a mechanic to the owner's address, at Haras de Piencourt, par Thiberville (Eure) (which is about 150 Kms from PARIS) to carry out necessary repairs.

A Tester left Rue Gide with our breakdown car at 7 a.m. on Saturday morning last and fitted a new oil cooler. He completed the Work by 1 P.M..

The driver also pointed out that the contact lever pivots hadbecome loose and that the rear speedometer and the electric clock were not working.

As the car had to come to Paris where Mr. GUINNESS is at present staying we asked the driver to arrange with Mr. GUINNESS to let us have the car to-day so that we could attend to the other matters.

The driver brought the car to us as arranged and it is now having our attention. We find that the square driving shaft as fitted to the speedometer drive in the gear box has failed owing to the jamming of the pinions in the reduction gear of the dual drive of the two speedometers. The failure of the square driving shaft also puts the Govenor unit of the Ride Control out of action. We are doing everything possible to finish our Work for this evening.

In view of the above, we think it would be advisable for you to kindly arrange for a letter of regret to be sent to Mr. GUINNESS.
