re Detail Drawing Office - Clan Exptl.

Because we found that a vertical strut on the original layout of Mr. Hunt's new office passed through a drawing board, we decided to reconsider the office arrangement. Whilst doing so, we attempted to achieve the following :-

(1) A long straight corridor for general traffic from the front door to the Design Office, and Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}'s. Office, so avoiding traffic through the Experimental Engineers Office.

(2) An orderly straight line layout of the boards.

(3) A spacious corner for Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HH.

(4) A space for a board and 2 or 3 side tables for Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HH/Aspley.

(5) An increase in the number of people accommodated.

On PL.221 of which we enclose a print we believe we have achieved all of these benefits. At the same time, we have found it possible to give space to the Cost and Planning people, which will enable Hewitt and the chassis planning expert each to have a board and table.

We have established that the print store will be adequate for the cabinets it will have to house.

We are sending a print of the scheme PL.221 to EJJ. and are asking him to alter the main plan accordingly.

In our scheme we have avoided moving the door which gives entry to the office from the front corridor.
