To Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} 6 X7960 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}5/MJ19.5.31. TESTS IN FRANCE X7941 The specification which was agreed at Derby has now been altered so as to use the W.W. scheme of radiator and front engine suspension. This, as you are aware, means a fair amount of Drawing Office work and a number of new forgings to be made. As an approximate date it will be at least three weeks before the car could be completed with these parts. The car you have sent to us GNS-2 is quite suitable but it is out of date in a number of parts. We are arranging to take the engine unit and gear-box completely out of this car and hand it over to production as a finished tested unit and to replace it with a new unit built up of standard production parts and the new pieces which are required. The wheels, radiator, springs, shock absorbers, will also be handed back to production. As regard specification for the series which is to follow T. series we cannot get very far with this at the moment. As regards 25-EX the following is a list of items we wish to get on this car before it goes to France :- (1) Rear brakes. Anti squeaking shoes. (2) Pistons with longer skirts to reduce piston knocks. (3) Propeller shaft. Modified universal joints to make oiling more fool-proof. (4) Dynamo with larger output. (5) Bonnet with flip-flap shutters. (6) Starter Motor. Self lubricated bearings to overcome troubles with conjealed oil in Winter time. (7) Rear shock dampers with split pistons. (8) Low rating springs all round. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
