Phantom III Clutch Coupling Shaft.

We send herewith N.Sch.4908 showing two suggestions for increasing the flexibility of the metal plate joint between the clutch coupling shaft and the gearbox to overcome a vibration which Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} has found is caused by the present joint when out of truth. Both schemes should be tried

Would RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} kindly test both types for stiffness, as was done for the present coupling.

Will you also kindly order for trial a Hardy Spicer fabric disc for the front end of the shaft 5/8" thickness, but otherwise the same as the present disc excepting that the hole in the disc may be 76 m/m as given by Hardy Spicer as an existing mould size for a 203 m/m disc in a rather old catalogue which we have.

E/HDY.{William Hardy}

N.Sch.4908 herewith.
