Dear Briggs Cunningham,

Many thanks for your letter of August 1st. I shall look forward to seeing you on Thursday next. You do not say whether you will be able to stay with me on Thursday night, I hope so?

I hope you will bring your Buick along because I would like to compare its performance with the one we have here. Having once established the sort of accelera- tion you have already got, we can tell you whether we can give you something to beat it.

I note that you refer to our 'new chassis'. I am not sure to what you are referring, but do not be disappointed if I cannot show you all our experimental developments.

I thought that Lagondas put up a very good show at Le Mans even though they did not win. I wish that our Administration had allowed us to enter.

Yours very sincerely,
