For the attention of Mr.Grylls,

Dear Sirs,

New Type Jack.

The fitting of a satisfactory boss to enable the Triple Lift Jack to be positioned under your axle bracket more readily is causing us some difficulty.

It occurs to us that you may be able to accommodate a Jack with the bevel wheel at the top so that the user could position and operate the Jack without transferring the handle from the pinion socket.

We enclose a blueprint showing the arrangement of such a Jack and shall be glad to have your opinion as to whether it is worth while our making up one on these lines.

We think you will agree the Jack is rather novel in its conception and although it has a top driven bevel it is virtually a bottom driven bevel Jack turned upside down and should, therefore, have all the latent advantages of that type, such as ease of operation, providing always the somewhat large diameter immediately below the head can be accommodated under the vehicle.

In the meantime, we are going ahead with a 6 1/2" Double Lift Jack and a standard type of Triple Lift, although, as mentioned above, a satisfactory means of changing over the handle from the positioning boss to the pinion socket has not yet occurred to us.

Yours faithfully,
FOR DUNLOP RUBBER CO.LTD.
