The doubtful point is whether it will hammer out when used under Continental conditions. 6. Reduced braking by cam levers operating the servo having cams of a bigger mean radius. 7. Friction in links suspending balance lever and increase tension on front pull off springs to reduce thumping of front brakes. 8. Hartford Shock absorbers. The makers have recommended an improved duplex model. It is similar to those we are using except that the friction surfaces have been doubled. They claim that they need less attention. We agree some improvement is desirable. 9. Road springs. Front springs - we are waiting for the final instructions with regard to what springs should be fitted to this car. The original arrangement was that two cars should run in France - one fitted with Woodheads and one fitted with Firths springs made with Woodheads type clip. We have one car in France at the present time which is waiting for road springs. That car, as soon as it is decided what road springs shall be fitted, can run 500 miles per day. As it would appear that Woodheads will be the first supply of 12½% springs, Woodhead springs should be sent out to France to that car so that the tests can be completed. It would appear that if we wait for Firths springs contd :- | ||
