ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. INSTRUCTIONS. To: EFC Order No. AC. 15. Customer's No. X Further Tests on Redmanol Varnish. The sample of Redmanol varnish reported in AE.4, 6-III-24, has been re-tested; this time after baking. A sheet of tin-foil was covered, and handed to Mr Brock for several hours baking in the drying ovens. After baking the varnish was of a deep yellow colour and it became somewhat roughened owing to the formation of bubbles. It was now very brittle and cracked on being bent round a rod of .25" radius. When placed in water, the foil very soon curled up sharply, with the varnish outside (the varnish apparently swelling) and after soaking for over 100 hours, it flaked off so that the weight of (Cont'd) Signed This Sheet must be filed on completion of the work. | ||
